Heading into the garden this morning I hoped to at least get the compost turned. And I did! I turned pile AB for the first time today, rejoicing in the amount of heat that the pile was giving off despite the cold. Then I worked on the strawberry patch – liberating the third bed from both the weeds and the weed matting, noting how impacted the spot seemed – v water logged and dense.

Before heading to the house I picked a lettuce from the mandala garden and mizuna and coriander from the greenhouse, to go with our tomatoes to make a salad for Community tea – Canon and Shadow seemed to think this was a more pleasant activity than being outside.
